In married woman feels that she has enough children,
In today’s society, opinions on the abortion topic have arisen causing many different people to “take sides” and choose if they think that a parent should have the right to end a child’s life after conception. This article, “Pregnancy Termination” explains the reasons that women may have an abortion, abortion issues, the history of abortion, and laws surrounding abortion. Some of the reasons that are given are a fear of society’s opinion, a married woman feels that she has enough children, or a parent finds out the sex of their child or that it has a genetic disorder. The history of abortion dates back to Greek and Roman Times. Overtime, Abortion has become illegal in certain countries. The Roe v. Wade case that was brought to the Supreme Court made abortion legal in 1973. While abortions tend to be safe and ineffective to the mother, unsafe abortions can lead to death. This article tends to favor the idea that the woman has the right to conscientiously decide between the life or death of her child. The Catholic Church teaches that any child from its conception has the right to live. The Catholic Church refers to the conscientious choice of abortion as a criminal practice. “From its conception, the child has the right to life. Direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, is a “criminal” practice (GS 27 § 3), gravely contrary to the moral law. The Church imposes the canonical penalty of excommunication for this crime against human life” (Catholic Church 2322). The Church is pro-life and therefore in opposition to the beliefs in the article. The Church teaches that God is the ultimate life giver and that no one on this Earth has the right to take it away. The Church believes that by having an abortion you are putting an innocent child to death. The Catholic Church teaches that the mission of men is to guard and protect the life he has provided us with. The Church teaches that from the second of conception life must be guarded. “God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception” (Catholic Church 2271). The teachings of the Catholic Church instruct us that from the moment of conception it is our mission to honor and protect the life of this child. The choice to have an abortion is a criminal act that is making the decision to take an innocent life that was created by God’s will and in his likeness. While the article above sides more with pro-choice and that it is the woman’s decision whether or not to keep the child, I agree with the Catholic Church in the fact that the child has the right to live. While I agree that the women should have a choice in major life changes like this, I believe that no one has the power to take the life of another even if the child is still in the womb. It is our responsibility to guard and protect the lives of everyone especially the young and innocent lives who do not have an impact in their parents’ decision of life or death if they are considering to terminate the pregnancy. Everyone is created in the image and likeness of God and he has a plan for all of us and by having an abortion, you are putting God’s plan to an end as well as the life of an innocent child.
